Mayor Margo tries to silence Sacred Heart’s Father Garcia at the 3-minute mark for public speakers

Remember the religious leaders during Jesus’s time?

Well, Mayor Margo is a modern-day version of a smug Pharisee.

He hides behind the letter of the law, and yesterday at City Hall he nailed himself to the one hour time limit established for public comment.

As tonedeaf as they come, he would rather trample people’s right to publicly address council than allow everyone to have their 3 minutes.

This stubborn attitude caused a righteous ruckus during yesterday’s public City Council meeting. The fault laying squarely upon Mayor Margo and his legalistic ways as he censored Duranguito supporters who had a right to express their concerns.

Then he condescendingly states in news interviews that they should be happy because public comment is “optional” and he doesn’t have to allow any public comment if he doesn’t want to. (my paraphrasing)

He berates public speakers on the evening news, saying that he’s not hearing anything new, it’s all redundant…we are a waste of his precious time.

Never mind that he and city council only meet publicly once every two weeks. An hour is all he wants to give citizens of El Paso.

Previous administrations let ALL speakers get their turn until everyone was done.

Personally I don’t think he paid much attention to speakers yesterday, he was more interested in making sure that the city clerk didn’t let anyone go over their three minutes.

He watched the clock like a school kid waiting for the bell to ring, and then he’d signal the clerk and give her a nasty look if she wasn’t able to silence them right away.

Watch my video of Margo more interested in clock-watching than listening to El Paso citizens here:

Remember what Jesus Christ thought of the Pharisees of his day?

Whitewashed sepulchres.

Leaders who look squeaky-clean on the outside but are like dead men’s bones on the inside.

Mayor Margo can’t help but fly his true colors as things in Barrio Duranguito continue to spin out of his control.

Keep an eye on Mayor Margo because things are not as they appear.
