JUD BURGESS aka JAMES NO BOND files ETHICS COMPLAINT against MAYOR and CITY COUNCIL

1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5 and five city leaders meeting behind closed doors even while taking turns is breaking the law...maybe...we’ll see.

I just put Mayor Leeser, Rep. Jim Tolbert, Rep. Cortney Niland, Rep. Peter Svarzbein, and Rep. Lily Límon on notice.

On Monday I filed an ethics complaint with the city against the Mayor and these 4 council members as I fully believe they broke the Texas Open Meetings Act law by meeting with several local people behind closed doors without informing the public as required.

They tried to circumvent the law which states that meetings can't take place with more than 4 members at one time. By law they are not allowed to meet in less numbers for the purpose of getting around the Open Meetings Law.

Which they did.

So what did they do to game the system and essentially have a 5-person meeting?

They took turns meeting together, with one walking out while the other walks in so as not to exceed the max meeting of four.

They are not above the law as they appear to think they are.

Don't get me wrong, I think Mayor Leeser has done an all-around good job and appreciate his stand against Eminent Domain, and have nothing personal against the others, with the exception of JimTolbert and his entitlement attitude and disrespect for community leaders like Michael Patiño.

With that in mind, I am still here to hold those in power accountable.

Feliz Navidad and Merry Christmas!
