People are dying. People are winding up paralyzed. People are peacefully protesting and paying the ultimate price.
And the blame lays squarely on Donald Trump and his politics of violence. His words of hatred work their way into people and infect them with a caustic vitriol that brings out behavior that can’t be justified. It simply can’t. Trump supporters can tie themselves into knots trying but will only end up the fool.
Here are some choice quotes by Trump that inspire homegrown racists and terrorists:
Trump told a crowd at a Cedar Rapids rally to "... knock the crap out of 'em, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise."
"I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that in a place like this? They'd be carried out on a stretcher, folks."
After a Trump supporter punched and choked a protester at a rally in Birmingham, Trump said: "maybe he deserved to get roughed up."
In Las Vegas, Trump was disappointed to see a protester being taken away peacefully: "The guards are being very gentle with him," Trump said. "I'd like to punch him in the face, I'll tell you that."
Trump is on record of encouraging American soldiers to become mass murderers of women and children, by hunting down and "taking out" the families of terrorists for purposes of "retribution."
“I can stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone and not lose voters.”
We could go on and on but I believe you get my drift.
A scene of human carnage like the photo above which happened just today was never to be seen during Obama’s 8 years. Obama supporters don’t turn the key, rev the engine, floor the gas pedal and plow into peaceful protesters.
We are talking about homegrown American racists tearing a page out of the ISIS playbook and using a vehicle to kill as many fellow Americans as they can.
That is terrorism. Inspired by their man Trump.
Melania Trump tweeted her disgust and condemnation of the events 2 hours before Trump did. And when Trump finally did tweet (no press conference, just a tweet) he did not condemn the alt-right, armed to the teeth, militia GI Joe wannabes.
These men and women marching with their torches are dangerous people who fear people of color. They strap on their semi-automatic AK-47s, clip mace and ammo to their belts, put on their bullet proof vests and march to the beat of a drum that still lives on in the days of lynchings and murder.
We are a nation divided and one half of us inexplicably backs a low IQ, know-nothing, war mongering lunatic ready to send us into a globally-warmed nuclear winter.
There will come a reckoning.
And I blame President Donald Trump.
